We promised you a look behind the scenes, a peek behind the curtain to see exactly how our 2010 holiday windows and visual displays were created. So, here it is!
Our holiday theme celebrates the 100th anniversary of our parent company, Hallmark. What better way to honor the history of Hallmark than to choose some of the most beautiful and cherished holiday cards from the company’s archives and create beautiful and unique installations with them?
Many, many months ago, the head of our visual merchandising team, Don Rogers, and the rest of the team began conceptualizing how to use over 40,000 of these memorable images in the 2010 Halls holiday windows and store displays. Countless hours went into planning elegant ball gowns, floral arrangements, threaded garland and soaring art installations.

By July, many of the components that you see in the displays were taking shape. Pajamas, shoes, tablecloths, chandeliers, Christmas trees, “gift-wrapped” packages, party hats, dog collars and curtains – all crafted from Hallmark cards.

Work continued into the early autumn with breaks to place and decorate the stores’ Christmas trees. By early November, the smaller elements of the holiday visual displays were moved into place. And, finally, the week before Thanksgiving saw installation of the stunning window displays.

The Halls visual team is Don Rogers, Jim Pennington, Angie Snow, Andrea Ring and Gina Estes – and we’re sure you’ll agree that they knocked it out of the park with these displays! (And big thanks to their “elves” Cacki Smith, Caren Nelsen, Sherrie Lemoine and Pattie Barnett.)
